Trademarks and standards
Effective 12 October 2026
The Lumees Lab website names many protocols, interfaces and industry standards, mostly to say which interfaces our products work with. This page explains who those names belong to and how we use them.
Our names
Lumees Lab, Lumina, Lumina VIP, Lumina Blocks, the Lumees logo and the names of our products are trademarks of Lumees Lab.
Names of standards and their owners
Protocol, interface and standard names, such as AMBA, PCI Express, USB, DDR5, MIPI CSI-2, HDMI or CAN, and the names of the organisations and companies that publish them, belong to their owners. Each Lumina VIP page says which organisation defines the protocol it covers.
We use these names only to identify the interface a product is built for, in the way needed to describe it. We do not use them as the names of our products: our products are called Lumina VIP for a given protocol, not by the protocol's name.
Naming a standard or its owner does not mean that the owner is affiliated with us, sponsors us or endorses our products.
What our products are
Lumina VIP and our other verification products are software that helps you verify designs that use these interfaces. In particular:
- They are not the standards themselves, and they are not published by or on behalf of the organisations that own the standards.
- Unless a page says otherwise, they are not certified, qualified or compliance-tested by those organisations. Verifying a design with Lumina VIP is not a certification by the owner of the standard.
- They do not give you any right to use or implement a standard, or any licence under patents or other rights that cover it. Some standards require membership, a licence or a compliance programme from their owner before you use them in a product.
We describe each protocol in our own words. We do not reproduce the text of specifications; you can get them from the organisations that publish them.
